Mrs. Doubtfire 2 was the proposed sequel to the hit 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire, with Robin Williams to be back in the leading role. 20th Century Fox began putting the film together in 2003[1], and the film was scheduled to be released sometime in 2014. The screenplay was written by David Berenbaum (who also worked on the 2003 film Elf).

The plot is currently unknown.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. In 2006, Robin Williams pursued to do other films, before the film was launched into production.
  2. Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014.
  3. Mara Wilson retired from acting in 2000 after Thomas and the Magic Railroad due to her focus on writing, although she did return to acting in 2012. In addition, she expressed no interest in returning for the sequel.[2]

Results[]

  • Mrs. Doubtfire 2 was both immediately and permanently cancelled following Robin Williams' death.
  • After the film was cancelled, Chris Columbus went on to direct Pixels, which was released the following year in 2015.
  • David Berenbaum worked on the animated film Strange Magic, which was also released in 2015.
  • Mrs. Doubtfire is a stand-alone film.
