Satyrday was a planned film adaptation of the book of the same name by Steven Bauer. It was to be directed by Don Bluth.

Plot

The moon is stolen from the sky by a nefarious owl and his army of ravens. A 14-year-old boy and his friend, an ages-old satyr, along with a werefox and one of the ravens, set up on the journey to restore the light to the night, and save the world from falling out of balance.

Why It Was Cancelled

Don felt that some of the book would not transfer well into the adaptation, and interest in the project following the studio's working with Steven Spielberg in producing An American Tail, and it was seldom mentioned again.

Result

While the film itself was shelved, some similar elements of the story, such as an evil owl trying to bring the world into eternal darkness, can be found in one of Bluth's later films, Rock-a-Doodle.
