Venom is a proposed spin-off film of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy.
Plot
The film was to follow up the events of Spider-Man 4 and have Venom be portrayed as the antihero of the film.
Why It Was Cancelled
- Sam Raimi chose not to make Spider-Man 4 and stated that he was unhappy with Spider-Man 3.
- The Amazing Spider-Man was going to be made, but with a different cast and director.
Result
While the Sam Raimi adaptation series has since been discontinued, a standalone Venom film has since been revived and is set to kick off a new shared universe that is adjunct to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
